There's a lot of various fighting game franchises out there, with various stakes. Some are actual superheroes or DBZ characters fighting each other and destroying entire cities while they do it, some are more grounded scraps between a couple regular people. Most franchises sit in the middle- like Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter. SF isn't exactly just regular people doing some regular fisticuffs. People are throwing fireballs, flying through the air, and taking hits that should reasonably delete all of your bones. Mortal Kombat, though... Mortal Kombat is a couple steps above that.

If you're going to be fighting people like Shao Kahn and Raiden, you've got to be made of some sterner stuff.

Rainbow Mika figured fighting outside her normal circuit was a good way to promote herself and her rings. Sonya Blade is an extremely capable fighter from the MK tournament, but she's just a regular person! R. Mika figured this would be a very reasonable showmatch. She's not insane enough to fight people like Sheeva or Mileena, but just a regular wrestling match against another normal person should be fine!
