And now, a Public Service Announcement from SpyHunter29.
For Valentine's Day this year, I wanted to explore a different kind of love. A kind of love that's apparently been missing from the world. Basically, I'm talking about trust and respect in one's fellow man. And I wanted to extend my trust and respect to the billion-plus Muslims of the world who have no qualms about other peoples' ways of life and just wish to live their own. I believe in your potential to contribute something beautiful to this ugly world of ours. I let my new characters Farah (left) and Kelly (right) speak through me because apparently that's how I operate. And I punctuated it with the hashtag #LoveTrumpsHate, which was one of the most inspiring things to have come out of last year's... unpleasantries. Not only does it affirm my belief in love in all its forms and denounce the many forms of hatred that are tearing our communities apart, but it (not-so-)subtly takes the piss out of He Who Must Not Be Named.
If I goofed on the Arabic translation of the above phrase, or any other Islamic customs I may not have represented correctly, I am happy and willing to receive such suggestions. I only ask that you be cool about it. For example, this was the first time I drew a headscarf (in a long time, anyway), which I envisioned as going under Amina's shirt. That way, it'd be harder for the haters in Amina's world to just tear it off. Toootally not because I didn't think I could draw it well! No sirree Bob! ...I'm a bad liar.
As for everyone else, I'm not sure how much this belongs in the Valentine Exchange category, but all the same, if you know any Muslims you believe in, by all means share this to them! Why not?
