Christopia1984 is holding another Olympic fanart contest for the recent PyeongChang winter games, so I have joined once again. I floated a couple of ideas in my head, but I ended up with this: Widowmaker from Overwatch in the biathlon. It was one of the (admittedly) few events I saw this time around, so I thought madame Widowmaker would be a perfect fit. I mean, she's a master sharp-shooter and she's literally cold-blooded! Although, before her, I had started to draw this with Fujiko Mine instead. It didn't get too far, but the head and face still resemble her a bit. As for the background, I did try to make a real stadium setting with Sketchup models and such, but it just didn't look right, so I went with this abstract synth-wavy thing. "Kick Drums and Red Wine" (

P.S. You may be wondering, "Overwatch takes place sixty years in the future! How did Widowmaker get back in time?" I thought about that, and let's just say she got into a fight with Tracer, and some of her timey-wimey, wibbly-wobbly stuff happened. Besides, I drew Nadia from The Secret of Blue Water for the London 2012 contest (fav.me/d5d40mg), and that anime takes place even farther in the past!
P.P.S. I also just noticed that I seem to pick French characters for these Olympic contests a lot. There's Nadia, Widowmaker, and for Sochi 2014 I drew one of my OCs, Claude Clarion (before I made him Ukrainian) (fav.me/d77bxak). I swear it's all a coincidence.
