While the XJ-01 was served as a general-purpose model and received high marks in mobility, its combat capabilities were lackluster and served as a Gongma or "worker horse." Xijing turned to Germany for its Jiashi or "armored knight" in frontline combat, but it preferred keeping its technology out of enemy hands. Fortunately, the Ritter II’s
design had little difference compared to the Ritter I, which was imported back to Xijing. The extra armor and equipment were added personally, whether made from their underground manufacturing facilities or other nations. Like the XJ-01, the XJ-02 had a more Chinese aesthetic to look like a frontline soldier. Typical XJ-02s would have blue colors or markings.

The XJ-02 appeared when Xijing's facilities improved their product quality by a large margin, further outperforming the first lines of XJ-01s. At this point, they worked toward adding composite armor plating much like the Panzerritter IIs. Although significantly slower than its sister, its durability and power more than makes up for it. It also wields a few original Xijing weapons. One such weapon is a Portable Laser, which intercepts missiles and burns through large targets from a long distance, but has a single-digit number of charges.

Despite being a mass-produced model, the most potent weapon is the experimental Willforce Generator, which can strengthen the robot's durability or significantly increase its power in hand-to-hand combat through the pilot's emotions. Although the device cannot handle intense stress, the results are significant for further R&D by Revenant, which eventually contributes to the importance of mecha on the battlefield.
