Defrosted Heart
EN: This was a commission I got from commission_PDK on Twitter (twitter/commission_PDK) earlier in the year. It's a tie-in to the big fanfic I worked on this year, Prisoner of Glory, but to explain any more would be a massive spoiler not only for the fanfic itself, but for Persona 5 Royal as a whole. Like, BIG spoilers. So, don't read any further if you don't want to ruin anything; otherwise, consider yourself warned!

The first part shows (the real) Kasumi Yoshizawa alongside Yuri Hikawa, the villain and OC I created for the fanfic, posing for a photo together after one of their few rhythmic gymnastics tournaments together. The victory-obsessed Yuri may have won second place this time around, but she is nonetheless happy because she found her first, and for a while, only friend in Kasumi. Sadly, as anyone who's played P5R (and, hopefully, are the only ones reading this anyway) can attest to, this would not last for long, leading to Yuri's heel turn. A part of her must still cherish that moment, as this very photograph is one of the the three Cores the Phantom Thieves must collect in their mission. Plus, it's just a cute moment, no? The "Junes Cup" in the background is a Persona-verse take on the Aeon Cup, a real rhythmic gymnastics tournament held annually in Japan. Aeon is probably best known as a chain of shopping malls around Japan and a few other countries, which makes Junes an even better fit.
The second part shows Sumire alongside Yuri. In a scene from the final chapter, the two newfound friends hold a mock rhythmic gymnastics competition to test their skills against each other, after which they pose for a photo together -- with a flexible twist. I designed both of their leotards myself, and yes, Yuri's costume is based on Elsa's dress from the first Frozen. Sorry, not sorry.
