Itzcahuacan Tlalmanalco Tlatohuani (King) Don Francisco de Sandoval Acacitzin Tlatquic's Badge and Weapons in Mixton War (1541-1551),
After Viceroyalty of New Spain instauration, native noblemen sought to reinforce their position and power in this new world. A form to reaffirm positions was earn war merits in conquester campaigns and repression of revolts. One example of this is native noblemen input in Viceroy Antonio de Mendoza´s Forces in Mixton Wars. This war was fought in actual Mexican states of Aguascalientes, Jalisco, Nayarit, Zacatecas y Colima.
Don Francisco de Sandoval Acazitli was commandant from Chalca force. Francisco de Sandoval used as Badge and Weapons “a skull with green feathers, a feather shield with symbol of long golden xurved labred, a Sword and Ichcahuipil (like European gambeson), and a red doublet, and “zaragüelles”, shoes and booties, and a white hat, and a big bandana, and a jade necklace with two chains”.
In this picture is represented a lot of these elements. It is represented Tlatohuani in front of Tlalmanalco´s open chapel.
